This.
Every year, !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! closes down a small airport near Austin, Texas.
You take your 2000 hp Lambo and in half a mile you try to go as fast as you possibly can.
All kinds of people and racing teams show up with their extremely fast cars battle it out.
What would you guess the fastest speed was?
180 mph? Nope…
190 mph? Nope..
200 mph? Nope..
220??? Nope..
The answer is…somewhere in the 230s. A Lamborghini that was producing somewhere in the neighborhood of 2000 hp managed to hit that incredible speed in half a mile.
If you watch the video, I think I may have caught that Lamborghini in one of the clips. All the cars hitting close to 200 mph or higher looked like rockets on wheels. And no parachutes!!
It was quite incredible. Virtually all car manufacturers were represented - Audi, BMW, Ford, Chevrolet, Lamborghini, Ferrari, Nissan, Cadillac and others. It was something else to witness all these hyper-powerful cars just driving around the grounds until they hit the runway.
Imagine you were piloting a Lamborghini Superleggera down the stretch of the runway; you look over and you see an Evo. Nothing against the Evo, but surely that would pose no threat to your massively powerful Superleggera correct?
Nope, half a mile and a few seconds later you are left in the dust by this Evo. That surely has to sting a little bit.
And I'm sure many people had their egos bruised. In a battle of pure horsepower, you really needed at least 1000 hp to be somewhat competitive. But even then, you needed much much more.
Honestly, it seemed like a lost cause. You could pour thousands of dollars into your car and still not be even close to winning the battle. Cars with 600 hp+ seemed slow! Never thought I'd experience that. But then again, I haven't really gone to any drag racing events.
There's a little bit of just about everything I experienced in the video below. It was awesome!

In all seriousness, the turbo setups on these cars are amazing. Someone a few days ago on Oppo posted this video of a twin turbo Gallardo doing a speed run. The acceleration is just nuclear.

What an incredible experience it would be to see those cars racing there. Thanks for sharing this.

Yeah it definitely was. Aside from the racing, it was just awesome to walk around these high performance monsters.

Can't be. My tach doesn't move anywhere near that fast.
